When They Go Low, We Tell the Truth

October 20th, 2022

Dear Friend,

Over the past few weeks you may have received negative mail or seen TV ads about things that are absolutely not true regarding my record…in fact quite the opposite. I want to take a moment to set the record straight - with clear facts about my record of reducing the cost of living and working to make your communities safer.

Because I am extremely proud of legislation I sponsored, co-sponsored, and the unprecedented amount of constituent services we have provided in these historic past two years.

The legislation outlined above is just a part of the work I have done since being appointed your Delegate in 2020. I have also worked tirelessly to protect the environment and Chesapeake Bay that is critical to our economy, way of life, and culture. I supported our schools during the once in a generation opportunity to overhaul public education investment with The Blueprint.

And I have fought to bring direct funding and investment totaling over $80 million to improve our local facilities and community spaces. I am proud of my record and my commitment to my constituents. I respectfully ask to be judged by my record, the facts and all that I have done to serve our shared community.

We are 19 DAYS away from election day, mail-in-ballots are in voters hands, and early voting begins next week. Getting out in our communities and speaking directly to your neighbors is what will help to ensure turn out and success in the general election.

Please consider coming to one of our final door knocks this weekend to play your part in helping to ensure Democrats win in November! With that said, I am so appreciative of all my amazing volunteers like you! And I am so grateful for all those who have shown their support for me - from knocking on doors, putting signs up, and attending campaign events.

This Saturday join me and Team 30A to door-knock throughout District 30A on Saturday, at 10am!

A Veteran’s Narrative: Healing Through the Arts

The Maryland Cultural Conference Center(MC3) has partnered with the Warrior Music Foundation to address the importance of healing through the arts in the Veteran’s Narrative project. This eight-month-long project paired 6 local artists and 6 local veterans to work collaboratively. After spending time with the veterans and learning about their past, family and future goals, the artists interpreted the veteran’s journey by completing two hand painted guitars. Of the 12 completed guitars, 6 will be auctioned off to the public and 6 will be donated to the participating veterans. The public is invited to attend the Public Reception & Party on October 20th at 6:00 PM at the Gallery at MC3. Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on the guitars, enjoy live music and refreshments, meet the veterans and artists, and enjoy an evening celebrating the power of healing through the music.

If you would like to consider making a charitable donation please visit their page here!

Disability Awareness Day THIS SATURDAY 10/22

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). The theme for NDEAM 2022, "Disability: Part of the Equity Equation," recognizes the vital role people with disabilities play in making the nation's workforce diverse and inclusive. Every year, the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities and the Commission on Disability Issues hold Disability Awareness Day, where we recognize businesses, organizations, and individuals who support and advocate for individuals with disabilities. The event consists of an award ceremony and vendors who provide information about resources available for people with disabilities and their families.

Operation Green Light: About/Get Involved

This coming Veterans Day, the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veteran Service Officers (NACVSO) invite the nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes, and boroughs to join Operation Green Light and show support for veterans by lighting our buildings green from November 7 to November 13. By shining a green light, county governments and our residents will let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported.

Individuals: Show your support by changing out an external or internal light bulb to green. Tell a family member, friend, or neighbor who has served in the military about the initiative. Encourage them to visit the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs.

Love Our Libraries

There are two exciting things brewing with Ceremony Coffee Roasters that benefit the library! ☕☕☕

Help power up your librarians!

Pay it forward to your favorite librarians by purchasing any bag of coffee from Ceremony's Annapolis Roastery (90 Russell St., Suite 500) or the Riva café (2329 Forest Drive). Ceremony will take care of the rest by delivering donated bags of coffee to our library staff for their daily jet fuel power up. That’ll get them zooming around the stacks! Available through January 2023.

I love you a latte!

Ceremony’s Fall drink menu is now available and scrumptious. Each time you order Lord of the Pies at Ceremony’s Roastery, the Riva café or Bethesda (7475 Wisconsin Avenue) locations a portion of the proceeds will go towards your library automatically. Lord of the Pies is a latte with house-made apple pie syrup and caramel, topped with whipped cream infused with maple, vanilla, and apple pie spice. Available through November 2022.

I encourage everyone to follow the Anne Arundel County Public Library’s Facebook page to get updates on programs and new resources. You can check out their calendar to find the perfect event for you and your family to enjoy!

You can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to learn about volunteer opportunities, community resources, COVID-19 updates, and much more. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always contact my office by email at Dana.Jones@house.state.md.us or by phone at 410-841-3211.
