String of Pearls, The Musical, at Maryland Hall!
Maryland Hall, in association with the Banneker-Douglass Museum, is proud to present the jazz musical String of Pearls. This captivating musical tells the love story of Nettie and Sam, sharecroppers, who dare to preserve their love in a daring and ingenious escape from the Chikoree Wood Cotton Plantation to Washington, D.C.’s Greater U Street neighborhood. Through the Great Depression, World War II, and the tumultuous 1960s, Nettie and Sam's epic tale of hope, resilience, and enduring love celebrates their struggle to find meaning and purpose in the Greater U Street neighborhood. The adventures, calamities, and flashes of joy and wonder they encounter are the thread that holds them together --The String of Pearls.

Community Coat Rack Donation Drive with AACPL!
As temperatures drop and winter slides in, AACPL is excited to continue its mission of ensuring everyone in our community stays warm these next few months with their Winter Coat Drive at Anne Arundel County Public Library!
Ten library locations – Busch Annapolis, Deale, Discoveries: The Library at the Mall, Edgewater, Linthicum, Maryland City at Russett, Glen Burnie, Brooklyn Park, Odenton and Severn – are equipped with community coat racks, ready to receive your gently used and no-longer-needed winter coats. If you or someone you know could use some extra warmth, feel free to browse the racks and take what you need.
Each branch has its specific needs and donation guidelines, so please give your branch a call if you have any questions about what items are most helpful. Your donations to the coat racks make a significant difference and are helping keep our community warm this winter, and I’m incredibly grateful.
You can follow me on Facebook, X, and Instagram to learn about volunteer opportunities, community resources, legislative updates and much more. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always contact my office by email at Dana.Jones@house.state.md.us or by phone at 410-841-3211.
Stay safe and healthy,
Delegate Dana Jones
