Dear Neighbor March 23, 2023
💪We have made it through Crossover!! I am so proud of all that I have accomplished with my colleagues for the State of Maryland. Below is my personal update on legislation I have passed!
New Vice Chair of Health and Social Services
I am honored to announce that Speaker Jones has appointed me to be Vice Chair of the Health and Social Services Sub-Committee. This committee is responsible for overseeing critical budget issues, many that impact some of our most vulnerable Marylanders. I also want to congratulate my dear friend and colleague, Delegate Emily Shetty, for being named Chair of the Sub-Committee. I am thrilled to continue our partnership in these new roles serving Maryland families!
Trans Health Equity Act PASSED in the House
I have had the great privilege of working beside and for incredible women in my career. I am blessed that this chapter of my life is no different.
🏳️🌈 As a PROUD Co-Sponsor of the #TransHealthEquityAct - I’m so happy last week the House of Delegates PASSED this critical piece of legislation! After voting down two poison pill amendments, for which I voted against both, HB283 finally passed with a vote of 93-37.
I am thankful to serve the state of Maryland led by our fearless Speaker Adrienne Jones. The incredible work that my dear friend Delegate Anne Kaiser did on this legislation in coordination with Chairwoman Joseline Peña-Melnyk and Vice Chair / brilliant floor leader Bonnie Cullison has been thoughtful & inspiring.
I am so very appreciative of the support for this legislation by our Speaker and this incredible group of women legislators.
HB 283 ensures that Maryland Medicaid covers gender-affirming care when that care is deemed medically necessary by a licensed healthcare provider in accordance with current clinical standards and follows medical science.
I want to thank the advocates for their tireless work on this legislation. My heart is truly overflowing with gratitude for you. This year, Annapolis Pride - We have a little more to celebrate during the #AnnapolisPrideParade I can’t wait to see & hug you again this year!

Women’s History Moment Floor Address
This week, I was overjoyed to give the Women’s History moment on the House Floor honoring Maryland’s own U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski.
A true goliath of Maryland, a giant of the United States Senate, and a colossal role model for some many women - it truly meant the world to me to have the opportunity to honor the great Senator!
