🖋️Countdown to Session!🖋️

January 6, 2023

Dear Neighbor,

We are less than a week away from the kickoff of the 445th Maryland Legislative Session! I am incredibly excited to get back to work representing the people of District 30A.

And this Session brings a significant amount of change. On January 18th, we will be welcoming Governor-Elect Moore and his administration to Annapolis. I, along with my fellow Democratic colleagues are looking forward to working with Governor Moore to improve Maryland!

I’m holding a Pre-Session Reception next Monday, January 9th. I look forward to seeing and hearing from everyone next Monday!

If you cannot attend, I still want to hear from you! Throughout the Legislative Session, I rely on hearing from constituents and their views on legislation so I can best represent this district. If there is a bill or particular legislative issue that you care about, please reach out and help me improve MD! You can email my office at dana.jones@house.state.md.us or give us a call at 410-841-3211. I look forward to keeping you all up to date of the happenings of the MGA and the district throughout this legislative session.

Salvation Army in Need!

This week, youth volunteers and I went by the Salvation Army in Annapolis to donate children’s books and diapers. While there, their staff implored me to spread the word about their urgent need for diapers and baby formula. Their food pantry, baby bank, and adult hygiene bank are available to those in need every week, and they are currently struggling to meet the demand.

If you have the means, please consider donating any diapers sizes 4-7, baby formula, or adult hygiene products!

If you have additional questions about donating, or how you can volunteer, please reach out to Melisa Hernandez who is Salvation Army’s Social Services Director at Melisa.reyeshernandez@uss.salvationarmy.org or 410-263-4091.

The Council will be distributing grants for youth-led projects which align with our vision of advocating for and improving the quality of life for young people. This grant project is an opportunity for youth-led organizations throughout Maryland to receive grants of up to $1,000, which organizations will use to execute a project which benefits Maryland youth. Organizations can vary in scope, whether it’s a statewide-advocacy organization or a high school club, all are welcome to apply.

In order to receive funding, a youth member and an adult advisor from the organization must attend a mandatory virtual application information session. Two sessions are offered: January 5th at 7pm and January 7th at 2pm. Interested participants RSVP for the event HERE
