Each year, State Legislators have the honor of granting scholarships to eligible students from their home district. The Maryland Delegate Scholarship Program provides funds for enrollment in undergraduate, graduate, or professional studies at approved colleges, universities, and private career (or vocational) schools in the State of Maryland to eligible students.



To be eligible for a Delegate Scholarship, you must 1.) Live in District 30A [you can check by going here and entering your home address] and 2.) plan to or currently attend a Maryland college or university or a private career school. Private career schools must have the Maryland Higher Education Commission’s approval to operate and be accredited by a national accrediting association approved by the US. Department of Education. You may also attend a nursing school if the Commission has approved the curriculum. Both part-time and full-time students may apply.

  • Scholarship funds may be used at an out-of-state school if your major is not available at a Maryland school; the Office of Student Financial Assistance must verify your case’s uniqueness. More information can be found here!

Selection Criteria 

All eligible applicants will be reviewed by an independent scholarship committee made up of District 30A community members. Selection is based on a combination of factors including merritt, community engagement and need. All students are encouraged to apply. 


Applications for the 2021 Delegate Dana Jones’ Scholarship have closed. We plan on opening applications for the 2022 Scholarship in mid-April.
